Mission
NavigationInf exists to report on how people and goods move in the UAE and the wider Gulf, and to do it with sourcing that a reader can check. The coverage spans roads, addressing, transport rules, mobility technology, market signals and the regional developments that shape all of them.
We are not a wire service. We are a small desk working a specific beat, and we think the reader is better served when the limits of what we know are printed next to the things we do know. So the coverage state is stated, not implied: something charted and confirmed reads differently from something still extending, and something we have not yet reported reads as a gap.
What we publish
Reported news based on named sources, including Reuters, Gulf News, Khaleej Times, The National, ARN News Centre and Emirati Times, plus official statements from UAE authorities. Where a piece is analysis rather than reported news, it is written as analysis and labelled in context.
Reported news
Every figure carries its origin and date
If a report says a market closed lower on a specific date, the story attributes that to the outlet and the date. Numbers are never dropped into a paragraph without saying where they came from and when they were true.
Analysis
Written as analysis, labelled as analysis
Analysis pieces say so in the piece rather than borrowing the authority of a reported story. Opinion is kept to the places where opinion is expected, and does not arrive dressed as a news item.
Sourcing
We do not publish claims that cannot be traced to a published source or an official statement. If a claim arrives without a source, it either gets one before publication or it does not get published. That rule is the whole point of the desk, and it is the one most likely to cost us a story.
Where a story concerns an organisation or a named individual and we receive a substantive response, we add it. Right of reply is offered before publication where time allows, and added afterwards when it arrives late — the response is part of the record either way.
Charted but extending
Coverage that is still in progress
A running story on this site is marked as extending until the desk has confirmed it against a source. We would rather print the gap than fill it with a guess, and the coverage ledger further down this page lists the beats where that gap is still open.
Corrections
In the text
Errors are corrected in the text and noted, rather than silently removed.
Extending
Headlines
Headlines are not quietly changed to mean something different after publication.
Confirmed
Requests
Send the story, the detail in question and any supporting source to the editorial desk.
Extending
Not yet published
This row is left blank on purpose — the desk has not confirmed a correction here, and the gap stays visible until it does.
Uncharted
Independence
Editorial decisions are made by the desk. Advertising and partnership enquiries are handled separately and do not influence coverage. Paid items do not appear among reported stories, and we do not accept payment for favourable coverage.
That separation is a working arrangement, not a slogan. The people who decide what gets reported do not sit in the room where advertising is sold, and a commercial request that arrives at the desk is answered with the same answer every time.
Right of reply
Where a story concerns an organisation or named individual and we receive a substantive response, we add it. Subjects of coverage can contact the desk through the channels listed on the Contact page.
Contact the editorial deskComplaints
Complaints about accuracy, fairness or attribution should be sent to the editorial desk with the specific detail and any supporting material. We review them in the order received and respond where the complaint concerns published coverage.
What to include
- The published story, with its headline and the date it ran.
- The exact detail in question, quoted where possible.
- Any supporting source, document or statement the desk should read.
- How you would like the desk to reply.
Complaints that concern published coverage get an answer from the desk. If the review finds the story was wrong, the text is corrected and the correction is noted — the same standard applied to our own reporting. If the review finds the story holds, the desk says so and explains what the source record shows.
We do not remove published stories to settle a disagreement. Where a story is superseded by later reporting, the newer story carries the update and the older one stays online with a note.
